BOROVETS

Borovets, known until June 29, 1942 as Chamkoria is the first mountain resort in Bulgaria and the Balkans. It is located in Samokov municipality, Sofia district. It is located at 1350 m above sea level on the northern slopes of Rila.
The place dates back to 1896, when General Tantilov, then a lieutenant colonel, built the first holiday villa, and later Prince Ferdinand built the Tsarska Bistrica Palace.
As a ski resort Borovets was formed in the 60s and 70s of the 20th century, when it expanded with the construction of the first hotels in alpine style and facilities for winter sports in the Balkans. Today Borovets is a year-round, modern resort with an excellent network of ski slopes and lifts, comfortable hotels, a variety of restaurants and bars and countless opportunities for active activities and entertainment.
